Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

Goals of the Special Interest Group (SIG):

Empower Facilitators and Leaders:
  • Develop and deliver programs to enhance understanding of the SDGs in our IAF community and the communities and organisations we support.
  • Build awareness of the facilitator’s role in achieving sustainability. Help decision-makers understand that facilitators, not consultants, can best support the first stages of the shift to sustainability.
  • Develop problem-solving and conflict management skills to foster regenerative leadership.

Establish Multi-Stakeholder Dialogue Platforms:

  • Create forums for governments, businesses, communities, and civil society to share best practices, discuss challenges, and co-create innovative solutions for SDG implementation.

Promote Inclusive, Equitable & Sustainable Practices:

  • Share “sustainable facilitation” best practices and embed the SDGs in facilitator behaviour - help facilitator’s appreciate their position as role model for sustainable practices through the way they work.
  • Partner with educational institutions, businesses and communities to raise awareness, integrate sustainable practices, and ensure SDG efforts address the needs of marginalised and vulnerable populations.

The SIG will operate as a collaborative platform, bringing together facilitators, leaders, and stakeholders dedicated to putting the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into action.

We will:

Create links to SDG resources on IAF channels. We will also provide opportunities for  facilitators in the IAF community to learn about the SDGs and role model sustainable practices in our work, including the way we organise our IAF events.
Develop a platform to have diverse groups and individuals share best practices and concerns around the SDGs.

Foster inclusive and innovative approaches to SDG implementation through a combination of dialogue facilitation, training and partnership building.

Empower individuals and organisations to drive positive change by promoting sustainability, resilience, and social equity in communities worldwide.

Host regular events, mentorship programs, and knowledge-sharing initiatives ensure continuous learning and engagement, developing a vibrant network of change agents committed to building a more sustainable future.
