Bio
Roger Schwarz is an organizational psychologist, speaker, leadership team consultant, and president and CEO of Roger Schwarz & Associates. He helps leadership teams get three results: strong performance, solid working relationships, and improved individual well-being. He also helps facilitators, learning and organization development, HR, and process improvement consultants improve how they help teams and organizations. Underlying all of his work is the premise that to create fundamental and sustainable change, people need to change not only their behavior, but their mindset. Roger is the author of Smart Leaders, Smarter Teams: How You and Your Team Get Unstuck to Get Results and The Skilled Facilitator: A Comprehensive Resource for Consultants, Facilitators, Coaches and Trainers, now in its third edition, and co-author of The Skilled Facilitator Fieldbook: Tips, Tools, and Tested Methods for Consultants, Facilitators, Managers, Trainers, and Coaches. His writing can be found online at Harvard Business Review.

Helping our Clients get Better Results: Challenging Our Facilitation Assumptions
How we think is how we facilitate. Our mindset—our values and assumptions—leads to our behavior, which creates results for our clients and ourselves. Join Roger to explore and challenge key assumptions underlying the four themes of the conference: 1) Facilitation and its philosophical roots; 2) facilitators contributing to organizations, communities and the world in transition; 3) facilitation in the digital era; and 4) facilitation influencing other professions. Using breakout groups, we’ll consider how our assumptions about culture, confidentiality, decision making, and facilitator neutrality and responsibility may advance or undermine our ability to help clients increase their effectiveness. Your learning from this session will help you benefit more from the rest of the conference. Consistent with the theme of facilitation in the digital age, Roger will be joining us via videoconferencing technology.
