Governance
The governing body of the International Association of Facilitators (IAF) is a global Board of Directors. Each Director is elected by fellow IAF members and serves on the Board in a voluntary capacity. The Board establishes and oversees the Association’s operational and strategic plans, on behalf of the membership and in service to the profession of facilitation.

Legal Structure
The IAF exists as both a tax-exempt organisation and a non-profit corporation.
The Association is incorporated in the United States, in the state of Minnesota and must comply with Minnesota state statutes regarding corporations.

The IAF is exempt from paying federal and state corporate taxes in the United States because of its 501(c)(6) status with the U.S. Internal Revenue Agency. To comply and maintain its status, the Association files documentation with the U.S. Internal Revenue Agency, namely the 990 Form. This is a public document.
