Association updates

IAF Board elections

IAF Board elections are just around the corner.  There will be 6 or 7 Board positions up for election this October including:  

  • Membership and Chapter Director;
  • Treasurer;
  • Professional Development Director;
  • Africa Director;
  • USA Director; and
  • Oceania Director. 

The Nominations Committee will be accepting nominations in August. The election will be held during International Facilitation Week in October. Please look for more information in the August membership update or email elections2016@iaf-world.org for more information.  

International Facilitation Week 2016

International Facilitation Week is being celebrated this year from 17 to 23 October 2016. We are suggesting a host of events that every chapter can undertake in their location. To coordinate efforts towards an amazing week "to promote the power of facilitation", we would like the Chapter Leads to volunteer themselves or one of their members to be part of the celebration team for smother communication. Please let Ajit Kamath rep.asia@iaf-world.org (or facweek@iaf-world.org) know who is your nominee.

Opportunities for participatory growth in Africa and beyond

The IAF Kenya Chapter, in partnership with Chemi Chemi ya Ukweli, will be holding a two-day facilitation conference on 21-22 October 2016. The theme of the conference is  "How will we create opportunities for participatory growth in Africa and beyond?" The conference will take place at Tangaza University College in Nairobi, Kenya. More information

In Memoriam: Audrey Goh

IAF member Theresa Ratnam Thong writes: On 15 June we received the sad news of the passing of Ms Audrey Goh from Malaysia. She was an IAF Member, active in the Facilitators Network Services Malaysia when it was formed in mid 2000's. She had assisted with the organizing of the IAF Asia Conferences when they were held in Malaysia and Singapore. Ms Audrey Goh had contributed quite a bit to the growth of facilitation and training locally. She has also assisted in Women's Projects etc. She succumbed to cancer recently and went for her first chemo session last Tuesday. She will be dearly missed in our Community of Practice.
