Focus on: Latin America & the Caribbean

By Hector Villareal

These last months have seen plenty of action in the Latin American and Caribbean Region. Here is a quick update:

Jamaica Chapter: IAF Jamaica celebrated its 5th Anniversary during #facweek and also saw the signing of the MOU with the Management Institute for National Development (MIND) to partner for the use of facilitation in national development. For all the information check it out here.

IAF – FALANDO DE FACILITAÇÃO: The virtual community of Portuguese speaking members is growing, now with a monthly online gathering with members from Europe, Africa and the Americas, it also has created the first official translation of the Facilitator IAF Core Competencies in portuguese. Join the Facebook group to participate in their next meeting on December 10.

New Chapter - México: The newest chapter in the region is now official, Mexico has become the third chapter alongside Jamaica and Bolivia. With the third biggest population in the Americas the team led by Diana Sánchez has a great opportunity to position our profession throughout the country. You can contact them at mexico@iaf-world.org.

Peru and first FIA Award in the region (28-30 October): the IAF was invited to participate in the II Latin American Convention of Facilitators organized by a group of Peruvian and Chilean organizations. We had the chance to interact with facilitators, trainers and coaches from that part of the globe and strengthen the relationship between our associations. The convention also was the stage for the first Facilitation Impact Award given to a facilitator (Beccy Torres) and a company (Novacero from Ecuador) in the region.

Brochure in Spanish: The global brochure has now been translated into Spanish as a new tool for the region to promote the power of facilitation and its now available in PDF format.
