Become an IAF Endorsed™ Facilitator

The IAF Endorsed™ Facilitator (EF) designation is a first stage of the IAF Professional Development Pathway.

It has been specially designed for members who may be considered a practitioner in the field of facilitation. For this reason, it is particularly suitable for members who are at the early stages of their career as facilitators or may work primarily as a consultant, project manager, trainer, coach, or meeting leader, independently or within an organisation.

The IAF Endorsed™ Facilitator assessment process is based on an online examination and a written submission. In order to become an IAF Endorsed™ Facilitator members must demonstrate an understanding of the IAF Core Competencies, have practical experience using facilitation tools, techniques and/or methods, and conduct in congruence with the IAF Statement of Values and Code of Ethics

Who can apply?

  • Candidates should demonstrate at least one year of experience as facilitators.
  • Facilitators who are more active in the field of facilitation and spend a considerable amount of their work time facilitating groups are encouraged to look at applying for the CPF designation.

IAF Endorsed™ Facilitator Application and documentation

The application process consists of:

  • an online examination  (the examination is currently offered in English)
  • a 3 parts application form

Upon registering for the assessment, the candidate can download the application form. When the form has been completed and sent to the IAF office, the candidate is invited to take the online examination.

Once the online examination has been completed, the application form and the results of the examination are sent to an IAF Assessor who, after reviewing them gives the final assessment and completes a short feedback form.

Assessment process

The assessment process is based on the information provided by the candidate in the application form and the results of the online examination. Some assessments may require an interview with the candidate.

Online examination

The examination is designed to test the candidate's understanding of the IAF Core Competencies. It consists of 60 multiple-choice questions, divided across the 6 IAF Core Competency areas.

Application form

The application form consists of a first administrative part, a second part containing a short career resume of the candidate, a third part containing information on any training courses attended on facilitation, other courses considered relevant by the candidate to be mentioned, as well as a brief essay in which the candidate is asked to present an example of the meetings they are most frequently asked to conduct.
